Quasar Aerospace Industries CEO Updates Atlantic Aviation Progress

Dean Bradley, the CEO of Quasar Aerospace Industries, Inc., announced an update on the progress their flight training subsidiary, Atlantic Aviation, Inc., has made in the last few months.

Due to the increased student enrollment, the Company said they have had to double floor space, hire two additional instructors, place a Designated Pilot Examiner on staff, and acquire another Cessna 172 SP primary trainer. Thanks to the efforts of Joshua Henderson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Atlantic Aviation, Inc., and his team revenues have quadrupled over the last three months. The application for approval by the U.S. State Department is progressing and we look forward to beginning to import students from associates in India. The approval for a FAA Certified 141 Flight School is currently being processed which will enable AAI to further expand its operations to a global market. The addition of William Cirmo, a retired Naval Commander as Chief Pilot and Director of Operations, incorporates his former military experience to elevate AAI's flight training program. Furthermore, the addition of Rich Tillery, a highly respected aviation expert, lays the foundation for expansion into helicopter operations.

According to Henderson, AAI will see tremendous strides in the upcoming months. The key to a successful flight school in any economy is diversification. AAI will become one of the most fully rounded flight schools in the United States, catering to all avenues of flight from sea plane operations, gliders, and banner towing to acrobatics, war bird training, and mock dog fighting. The goal at AAI will set a precedent by being able to train for any pilot certification from light sport to a type rating in a jet aircraft. AAI has also hired Phillip Hodges as Chief Instructor to spearhead the future expansion of AAI's involvement with 135 charter and jet operations. "We are very proud of the progress that we have made with AAI thus far, but are always seeking new ways for company growth," says Henderson.

Giant black holes yield cosmic 'baby picture'

UA astronomers recently identified the first two supermassive black holes ever witnessed in early stages of development.

"Our universe is about 13.7 billion years old, and these quasars (light generated by black holes) are 13 billion light-years away from us," the lead author of the study, Linhua Jiang, said in an e-mail interview.

"We are looking at a baby picture of the universe."

The project, led by UA astronomy professor Xiaohui Fan and funded by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was completed last year and published in the journal Nature last month. The goal of the study was to gain a better understanding of the developmental stages of supermassive black holes.

It isn't certain how these massive bodies are formed, but they're found in the center of most galaxies and it's believed they're closely involved with the formation of their surrounding galaxies.

To get data on early stages of development, astronomers must look into distant galaxies billions of light-years from our own.

A light-year is the distance light travels in one year, about 6 trillion miles. For instance, since the supermassive black holes are about 13 billion light-years away, it took the light of the image 13 billion years to reach the Earth. Essentially, astronomers are looking back in time, at what how these objects appeared billions of years ago.

In the past, astronomers had been unable to distinguish many differences between younger, more distant black holes and older ones.

While the UA team was hopeful of finding something new, members expected their observations would yield similar results, Fan said.

"If you had asked me to bet at the time of the proposal, I would have that they would still be the same," he said.

The team used the Spitzer Space Telescope to more closely study 21 quasars discovered by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey over the last 10 years. Using the telescope's infrared capabilities, the astronomers noticed that two of the quasars were peculiar.

Until now, all black holes studied were surrounded by thick rings of dust produced by the debris of stars in the galaxy.

But these two distant black holes lacked the surrounding debris, suggesting that heavy elements like oxygen, iron and silicon had not yet developed in the young galaxy.

"That tells you that this black hole is in an environment that has not had a lot of things going on," Fan said.

While the astronomers don't yet know all of the implications of these dust-free black holes, they hope to gain more information in coming years.

"It's a very encouraging sign that we're on to something, but it leaves us with a puzzle," Fan said. "We still have to solve what exactly is going on."

Time slows down for no quasar

Space has been expanding since the big bang, stretching light from distant objects to longer, redder wavelengths--a process called "red shift". The expansion means that distant events appear to occur more slowly than those nearby. For example, the interval between light pulses leaving a faraway object once per second should have lengthened by the time they reach Earth because space has expanded during their trip. Supernovae show this time dilation in the speed at which they fade--far-off explosions seem to dim more slowly than those nearby. But when Mike Hawkins of the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh UK, looked at light from quasars he found no time dilation. Scott Gaudi of Ohio State University in Columbus says this explanation does not square with microlensing observations of the Milky Way, which suggest that no wore than 20% of the galaxy's dark matter halo can be made up of massive, compact objects such as primordial black holes.

Quasar Aerospace Industries Plans New JV, Closing of Acquisition No. 3

Dean Bradley, the CEO of Quasar Aerospace Industries, Inc., announced that QASP, with two other partners, has acquired the rights to purchase $150+ million worth of helicopter spare parts for $15 million.

According to a release, these spare parts will be shipped from their present location to the Jacksonville, Fla., area and sold/distributed worldwide over the next 5-7 years. QASP will control 51 percent of the venture and recapture its $15 million investment plus interest prior to any distribution of profits. The company said its partners have worked for five years obtaining the US State Department approval which is now in hand.

The funding is in the company's bank for closing Acquisition #3, which will occur on May 6 in the company's conference room at Herlong Airport. The effective date of the takeover is May 1. The details and name will be disclosed in a PR that afternoon.
